Look up "freezer bag cooking". An "inny" and a "outty" ZipLock Quart size freezer bags, a cozy and a long-handled spoon from REI. I double bag (a) for the rare case where the "inny" leaks and (b) because I can add hot water to the "outty" if the contents of the "inny" need to cook longer.

I bought a lady's book on the subject.

Clams have some of the highest iron content of any food. It is not added iron. Chances are it is only 3 or 4 ounces of clams to provide that much iron. If you have ever eaten a big bowl of clams or oysters at a restaurant chances are you have consumed more iron than that in a single serving.
