Hello to all,

My girlfriend and I will be heading to Glacier next week for a nice little vacation. I guess my biggest question will be: Should I even bring the skis? Coming from Colorado, and even with a dry winter, there is still a far amount of snow in the high country. I was curious if this was the same for Glacier or I am just wasting my time.

If so, or not, any suggestions for day hikes, overnighters, or backcountry trips. We will be at St. Mary's and as well Lake Mac. We are avid skiers, climbers, and hikers. We want to see the more adventurous side of Glacier. Thank you in advanced for the comments and suggestions.

Plenty of snow and good skiing above 5.5k or so, though it's been getting warm enough that on the wrong day you'll just find isothermic slop.

Some of the best BC skiing access is had by cycling up either side of the Sun road, then skiing. On the east side the Siyeh Pass cirque is great. On the west the two bays north from Granite Park chalet are very good as well. Swiftcurrent Peak is a great easy summit to climb and ski. There is construction during the week on the west side on the Sun road which limits access.

Two Medicine has great bike and hike to ski access as well, though there's probably a fair bit of hiking to get to decent snowpack now.

The Belly River is probably dry enough for hiking without snowshoes, and I doubt the bugs are out yet. Cool scenery there this time of year.

Creeks crossings can be a problem this time of year. None of the seasonal bridges will be in, and the creeks are big right now. If you're willing to hike in to ski and camp on snow, there are tons of good trips to do.

I think we will be staying more times than not up at St Mary's. I have heard as well from other people good things about siyeh pass. Looking forward to our trip. Once again thanks.

About when are we predicting the opening of Logan Pass? Maybe before the end of May?
