I mentioned in earlier threads that I planned to buy a Fountainhead Caddis 330 tenkara rod ($45 + S/H). I did, matching it with a Tenkara Bum hand tied line ($15 + S/H). I had 5x tippet and fly tying materials, so that was my whole out of pocket. I'm happy, I've caught fish, though just a couple stockers so far.

The fly that worked for me was a Sakasa Kebari tied on a size 14 scud/emerger hook. I used black thread for the body, copper wire ribbing, and a sparse grizzly rooster hackle.

If you are on the fence, you might consider starting with a Caddis ...

Update: My bobbin still has olive thread on it, so the fly was probably olive.
