2 night trips in the southeastern US? on 04/25/2012 08:07:06 MDT Print View

Anyone have any suggestions for a 2 night / 3 day trip in the southeastern US? Specifically, I live in South Carolina, but I am willing to drive up to 4-5 hours which puts me just about anywhere in Georgia, North Carolina, or Eastern TN. I am not a hypermiler so 30ish miles would be about all I am good for in that time.
Thanks!

Lots of great loop options in the Smokys.

The Standing Indian loop on the AT is quite nice. It's about 25 miles, and makes a great 2-night hike. Park at the trailhead parking area at Standing Indian Campground, off US 64 about 12 miles west of Franklin, NC. The loop consists of the Kimsey Creek Trail, the A.T., and the trail whose name I forget right now. But it's really obvious on a map. (Sucks getting old but it usually beats the alternative.) PM me if you want more details.
