Just received my ULA Amp this week.
After receiving my order, Brian Frankle sent an e-mail apologizing for an actual weight being above the earlier listed value (now 10.7 ounces). Brian asked if I still wanted to receive the pack in spite of the changed spec. I continue to be pleased in doing business with ULA. I haven't yet weighed the pack.
I have loaded it with my initial 6 pound base weight plus a 3 day load of food. The Amp feels great while carrying it around the house. It will be a few weeks before I can get out for a hike but I will be posting a review as soon as I can.
Some first impressions include: The side pockets can be reached while I wear the pack (important feature to me as I use water bottles). The lack of a sternum strap seems OK with a light load. Adding one if needed would be simple. The shoulder straps are comfortable at first pass. The use of nylon cord as a part of the straps was a feature I hadn't picked up on from the web description. The design is very cool. The hip belt is narrow but appears adequate for the load range. The pack bag is the volume that I wanted in a UL pack. I like the drawstring closure for the pack bag. I ordered the external front pocket. The volume appears just right for carrying a wet tarp and bivy if needed.
