Hello, I am selling a custom quilt made by Javan Dempsey. It is a variable tapered quilt that is made for the average sized person (5'10"). It is rated for 30 Degree weather, made with 900 + Down Fill, and it weighed in at around 14-15 oz.
I bought this quilt a year ago and received it April of 2011. I used this quilt for 10 night only and quickly realized quilts are not for me (My Loss is your gain). It is in perfect condition and I am willing to ship to US Lower 48 only through Paypal please. Asking for $300 PM me ; Thanks for looking!

a couple questions on 04/04/2012 21:35:32 MDT Print View

Quilt looks beautiful. Can you tell me if it has a sewn footbox, and if so, how far up it goes? Does it have some sort of closure system or attachments for straps around a pad? Or maybe you have a picture of the underside?

Also, can you tell me the width of the torso? I'm a side sleeper and I want to make sure it's big enough.

Thanks!

Hello Ethan , I will get more pictures up tonight along with info. It has a foot box, but does not have the Velcro backing. It is a classic style quilt .

Just measured the quilt. Across the chest when opened up it measures 48". As far as the bottom is concerned it has loops so you can tighten it up with chord (you can see in pictures). It does not have any way to attach to the sleeping bag as I know of. Let me know if you need any other measurements or pictures.

I am only chiming in to vouch for the quality of Javan's quilts. Top notch!
This is a real bargain, by the way.

Yah I loved the quality of the quilt (Top Notch) Quilts are just not for me. I am going to get a WM Megalite I believe. I hear its a good sleeping bag and it has lots of room.

Details ? on 04/27/2012 02:17:07 MDT Print View

Hi Josh,

if this quilt is still for sale, could you please give us more details concerning:
* fill weight
* the presence/absence of a neck cord (not obvious in your pictures)

Thanks,
Howard

Hey Howard .
As far as the quilt ; it has the neck tightening chord at the top portion of the quilt . I can post some pictures after work today. It is made of 900 down ; I think that's what your asking ; it's still for sale ;

Hi Joshua,
Regarding Howard's question about fill weight, fill weight typically refers to the total amount of down used in the quilt/sleeping bag/jacket/etc. For example, to make a quilt with dimensions of 70"x52" and 2" of uniform loft, you would need about 8oz of 900fp down.

Good luck with the sale, I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my own TSS quilt, otherwise I'd probably be showing some interest in yours...

Thanks,

Joe

Joshua I lost my notes but I know for a fact that quilt is wider than 48" at the chest. I haven't made any variable tapers that narrow.

Fill should be approx 8oz, based on size, but I calculate on a baffle by baffle basis for desired nominal loft. In this case, 2" or roughly 30deg.

Actually I found my notes. Roughly 8.2oz fill and full width cut. That means this is a 53-54" torso width quilt. I have no idea how you got 48, but remeasure bro. ;) That's finished width also, cut fabric width was either 57 or 56, I didn't write it down but I do have baffle measurements.

This should be an excellent quilt for someone the right height, and a chance to own one of my pieces that won't likely be produced in this config till next summer (and then only a few) at the earliest, at a much cheaper price than I would charge.

This sounds great, I'll take it!

Although it's destined for Oz, I have a US address if that's OK with you.

Sending PM.
