Got the tarp done last night and tested it out in the back yard with winds blowing about 20 knots.

I used tape for the edges and hysol for the tie outs.

I cut the corners out for the line adjusters, I liked the clean look of it, and used cuben to attach rather than grosgrain and circles for reinforcement patches.

Weight is 5.6 ounces. 9'x 7'x 9'










6.9 ounces with guylines.

Quick question for you...what was used to construct the ridgeline? Tape? Sewing? Hysol? a combo of the above?

Does the kit come with instructions? What would you estimate the overall difficulty to be?

And lastly, does Hysol still require a separate dispensing gun? Could you give us the specific model-type number of the hysol adhesive? Much appreciated!!

Here is what I did -

I primed & taped the ridge. I used two tubes of prime for the ridge and edges.

I got a tube of hysol off eBay that was for a gun and had no plunger so I opened it and stored both parts in small bottles.

After working with the Hysol and the tape I think that tape along with primer 94 is about as strong and easier to work with. I would tape the tie outs next time around.
I am going to sew over the patches.

Taping is super easy. For the edges, tape along the edge fold over and crease the edge and then pull the backing out a few inches at a time and press down.(Hard to describe how I did this but I developed a technique that was very fast and left no creases)

ZPacks tape is really strong. I had a tape from GG that was not as good. One roll of tape is way more than you need. I used less than a quarter of the roll.

Thanks for the link on the primer, sounds like it will help etch the fabric for a stronger bond.

Are those outside edges catenary cut? Did the kit come with a pattern? I thinking about using the SMD pattern (http://sixmoondesigns.com/images/stories/pdf/Pattern_NightWing.pdf) but would like to give the bottoms edges some shape.

The tieout looks really nice, how many layers of cuben are there in the bit that goes through the linelock? Also what weight is the cuben?

The Tarp is .75 oz the tieouts are 1.50 oz cuben doubled and glued on front and back so it sandwiches the tarp edge. The patch is 1.0 oz and wraps around to the back and makes the edges 4 layers thick.

All edges are cant cut by Lawson. I love the design, It really works well and is easy to pitch tight.
