My insulated jacket weights and packed size comparison(maybe helpful to somebody) on 02/22/2012 20:56:05 MST Print View

Just wanting to play with my latest S&C score. I got a Patagonia UL Down Jacket and wanted to do a simple visual packed comparison as well as gather the weights for my spreadsheet(You know, to feed the addition;-).

I've become irritated by the lack of flexibility of the 1/4 zip on my Nano Puff. I simply want to unzip it more to adjust heat retention. When this came up, I decided to go for it instead of holding out for a full zip Nano Puff.

This is no attempt to be a performance apples to apples comparison. Just data to be used when considering gear for a trip. Thought it might help others who wear my size and wonder what the weight differences were.

Size XL
Weights:
Patagonia UL Down Jacket: 9 5/8oz
Patagonia Nano Puff 1/4zip: 11 1/4oz
Patagoina R1: 13 7/8oz
EB Down Sweater fullzip: 15 oz

Each design has it's purpose for different elements. I haven't used the UL other than some urban walking so I can't give a review on performance yet. I'm not sure where the warmth compares to the others yet.

I didn't bother to add the R1 since you know it's going to be bigger and varies a lot depending on the time you take to fold it up and EB will be way bigger since it has a lot more down.
