They are on sale for $58 at Sunny sports.

That said you can count on replacing the fiberglass poles. They will snap for sure, and
if you replace them with aluminum poles you will have to pre-bend them. Radius is too tight. I know, I had one and went through all of that.

Its actually not a bad tent after you replace the stakes and the poles.
Very tight.

A lot better tent is the Eureka spitfire. A little heavier and on sale at campmor for $90.

solitaire on 02/08/2012 08:51:48 MST Print View

I have owned a spitfire and solitaire. The solitaire is like a coffin, did not like it one bit. It is really more of a bivy then a tent. I would get the spitfire before I got the solitaire.

That said, I bought the solitaire at Dick's Sporting Goods for cheap, I think it was $39.99.

If you end up purchasing this tent, make sure you replace the poles with aluminum ones. The fiberglass ones will snap eventually, its a matter of time.

Like Troy said though, with the poles replaced, its actually a nice little sub 3lb tent for really cheap.

Where do you buy replacement poles?

Thanks,

I got mine from Quest outdoor fabrics.

That tent has a pin for one end that goes into the open pole end and I think you need a round dome end for the other. You will need shock cord if you can figure out a way to connect it to the open end.

Like I said the curve is way too tight for a straight pole but you could try it.
Especially the foot end is very tight.

I pre-bent my poles.
You have to fill them with sand to do that.
You will need a tubing cutter.

Try the Eureka Gossmer Tent - same as the Solitaire except w/aluminum shock-cord poles on 02/12/2012 02:57:05 MST Print View

I had a Gossamer tent for years. Great little tent, weighing just over two lbs - heavy by UL standards, but great in its day. Never any problems. I gave it to a buddy of mine last year or else I'd send it to your for free. You can still find both the gossamer and the solitaire online at Campmor. They usually sale for $40-65.00.
