Doing a thru-hike for a cause. on 01/30/2012 11:01:12 MST

Just wondering if anyone has done something like this on your own. Since I am hiking the CT this summer, maybe I should do it to raise money for a cause I care about. Are there legal issues with doing this on your own? Setting it up, getting donations?
