What sort of admission would you like to see in public from the original poster?

Would you be satisfied with an admission from the original poster only? Or are you looking for an admission from other posters (Staff? MLifers who posted previous responses in this thread?) What should the admission contain?

In your view, should the admission be voluntary, or should it be mandatory (e.g. one must testify on penalty of being removed from the site if admission is not given)?

just pointing out the false misconception that members are more trustworthy than non-members. Since it was said multiple times in this thread that people were glad that the gear swap was members only and they feel better about using it.

i don't expect an admission from anyone.

Jake, I have a solar beenie I wish to PIF to you sir.
Some family member of mine gave it to me with love.
I can not use it.
I wish to give it to you free of charge.
Email or PM me an address and i will send you this beenie.
It is actually pretty cool. It has a mylar lining on the inside and a super light weight fleece outside.
My mother got it at REI for me, but i already have a lot of headwear options.
Sir, as a guesture of kindness from a BPL member to a NON-member; please accept this beenie.

Wow. 48 hours ago with the fourth post, I resurrected a quiet thread and there's been alot of...talk...since then.

Great gesture Matthew though.

Due to the time difference, i was supping a few beers whils posting yesterday, whilst others were maybe posting from work. If i offended anyone, i apologise. It can be difficult to understand the niceties of US forum etiquette, and i have pretty strong views on some matters.

Matthew, I appreciate the gesture but please pass it on to someone who needs it more than I do. I have more hats than i know what to do with, included 2 hand knitted ones made by my girlfriend.

You need to study statistics a bit. One counter example goes not disprove anything.

It's a new day. How about a fresh start? I'm going to put the coffee on.

throwing blanket statements out saying that one group is more trustworthy than another group based solely on a little icon next to their name is not very scientific either. a member could be on here for 2 days and a non member could be on for 5 years.

want to show me ANY example of a non member making a poor deal in gear swap? where are they getting their hypothesis to make those statements? They just have it in their mind that that is what they think so they can justify it to themselves.

now i'm going to go see if i weigh more than a duck. :P

There are logical reasons why a member would be more trustworthy, ceteris paribus. The opposite can't be said.

I have seen examples in the past of nonmembers only showing up for PIF. I honestly don't care to dig them up as it has been quite some time, but they are there.

That said, I'm on my phone on here half the time so I don't even see member v nonmember icons.
