If you wanted a plug I could do it but I'm with Travis. Anything will work if you really need to plug it.

8D option? on 03/23/2012 11:29:25 MDT Print View

I was about to pull the plug on a WM bag, not being sure a quilt is the thing for me. Being a stomach sleeper though, thought quilt might be the way to go, but not sure. After stumbling on these quilts today and the pictures... now I'm salivating and couldn't believe the price.

Tim you mentioned an 8D option? Would that make sense for use in a DuoMid or similar shelter or stick with the 20D? Are there going to be color options for the 8D?

The 8d is very breathable which can translate to heat loss is wind is allowed to rob the trapped air. It can be used as a liner to the 20d with no fear of heat loss. I would only use 8 d shell if in a bivy or windless shelter. The duo mid might be a good option if you keep it sealed to the ground, but big you like to vent it off the ground a little just 8d lined may be the way to go.

I have it in charcoal and black right now.

Revelation X on 03/25/2012 03:00:27 MDT Print View

Hi, first post here although I am a member of a few other hiking forums. Really thinking about getting one of these quilts! Looking at the Revelation X, I am 5'9" ~170# and usually a belly sleeper but toss and turn. Never used a quilt before, or down for that matter. But upgrading my gear, trying to go to light and compact. I'm thinking the 6' Reg. It will also be mainly a summer bag for the northeast (WV, NY). Still trying to decide on a temp rating. Thinking a 40 with the 30% overstuff would suffice.

Is there any pictures of black and olive together? I'm thinking black outside with olive green inside.

Double Rev X on 03/25/2012 09:55:14 MDT Print View

Hey Tim,

would it be feasible for you to do a double version of the revelation X for me and my other half? What might the cost be...?

Doubles are too big to make on our current 6x8 table. Eventually we will but not until we get a bigger space

Very glad you are happy. I try really hard to get the weight estimates right on. There are so many options we offer it would take a year before we could build each one to get an actual weight so I do the math and it is good to hear that it is coming out right on.

Hey Rob D!

Thanks for sharing the photos! I'm wondering what color does your quilt actually is?
It seems like in grey and a little bit of brown?
thanks! T.

Actual stuffed size for regular? on 04/22/2012 20:51:59 MDT Print View

Really thinking more about a quilt. Per about post #10, a 12"X24" stuff sack? That's about four times the size of my WM 6"X12" (XXS) stuff sack for my Caribou bag. I'm trying to get my volume down enough to eventually get a ZPack pack. Real world, how much will a Revelation X, regular width, 6' length, 30 degree bag stuff down to? I'm a side sleeper at 165 lbs., 6' tall, the 52" width should work for me. Would really like to get the 20 degree quilt, but I need to think summer volume, reduced weight first, so the 30 degree quilt will have to be the one.

Actual stuffed size for regular on 04/26/2012 21:36:28 MDT Print View

I've got a Revelation 20 Deg quilt 6'6" wide; with 30% overstuff. Fits in a Zpacks medium dry sack without too much effort. Zpacks says the medium is "roughly" 6" x12" full dimensions.

The quilt is just 1.1 Oz ripstop and 800 FP down. Seems impossible to fit more insulation into the same size and weight until the invent something that is warmer and more compressible than down. Get the temperature rating you need and I think you can rest assured that that is is going to be as warm, light and compressible as as it gets. Excellent gear.

Flat vs. Stuffed on 04/26/2012 22:03:33 MDT Print View

I just ordered a RevX from Tim this week, so anxiously waiting...

I noticed the dimensions of the stuff sack earlier in the posting and I think the confusion is that the dimensions referenced are the "flat" measurements. Their "full" size is about 6x12, as Jackson mentions and they state on the site.

Stuffed on 04/27/2012 06:54:13 MDT Print View

Thank you, no mention earlier how flat, I did read about the larger, flatter stuff sack, this will still leave me with same volume as my WM Caribou bag. He must be busy. I have not perused their site, just keep checking out the weight, options. Almost pulling the trigger, checked out HammockGear also, they have some nice stuff. I'd only save quarter of a pound for a 30 degree quilt. I need to go down more between getting a Zpack shelter and pack which will only save me 20 oz. and a quilt will save another 4 oz. If I cut my carried water down to a quart instead of two quarts, total weight reduction for a week trip in the summer would get my total weight with a Bearicade to 27-28 lbs. Is this little weight loss worth spending $800-$900 on? I'm not selling firewood this year so I can give my back a break, so no extra money coming in.

just bought 2 quilts on 07/04/2012 16:24:24 MDT Print View

I have been emailing back and forth with Tim, and ended up ordering 2 quilts. The first is a 6'6" Rev 20* wide w/overstuff for the high sierras 3 season. The second is a 6' Rev X wide 40* w/overstuff for warmer summer trips.

Tim has been awesome to work with, and I am really looking forward to receiving these quilts. I ordered the 20* quilt first, and then decided to opt for the second summer quilt. When I decided to go for two quilts I changed my first order from a 6' to a 6'6" since it will be for mostly colder trips at elevation and I want to ensure that it covers my head (I am 6'2" 205).

When I emailed Tim to make the change he took care of it without hesitation and even waived the extra $10 for the long upgrade since I ordered two quilts. That's what I call great customer service. I can't vouch for the product yet (although I expect it will be superb) but I can definitely vouch for Tim's customer service. Thanks Tim!
