WTB: McHale Pack on 12/18/2011 18:17:49 MST Print View

Interested in a McHale pack. Thinking of buying one new, but if I can find a used one that fits what I'm looking for, why not save some $$?

I'm really interested to see whatever McHale pack is floating around out there that someone is willing to part with, preferably weighing no more than 5-6lbs.

EDIT: I'm 6'4" by the way.

Thanks!

I have a CM, Bayonet, Bypass harness, pack that I'm open to selling. Weights more than 5-6# I think, but hasn't gone under the knife yet and I think there would be plenty to cut. Back size 17 1/4" per Dan's method. PM me if interested.

I have a new and unused McHale Pack.
It is a very large, critical mass, non bayonet, panel loader.
I had Dan make me this a few years ago when I carried monster loads.
I have since sustained a couple knee injuries and the pack sits unused.

If interested I can get you pics, measurements and weight.

I have an LBP 38, 17 inch torso, in Dyneema, I might be tempted to sell. --Mike

Sounds like something I'm looking for but the torso length is just a bit too small. I'm updating my post now with my height. Thanks though!

Hi Michael - Dan Mchale measures torsos a bit differently than others and I would suspect that the 17" torso measurement equates to stays that are about 23 or 23.5" long and a normalized 19.5" torso. Have you measured yourself the Mchale way?

I measured myself to have an 18" torso according to Dan's instructions on his website.

His method to measure is different, but he's looking to get the same result as any other pack maker. His method is the best I've seen for torso measurement. Less chance for a mismeasure. I've used his method to fit myself into every pack I've owned.

The problem with his measurement is that all other pack makers don't use it - the result is that one usually has to size up with a more mainstream pack. Custom is the way to go.
