I'm still looking for a good home for "my home away from home."

Here is a picture of the tarp and bivy set up at Cherry Gap on the AT in 2010.

Tarp with reflective guylines

The reflective guylines on the tarp "light up" from the flash on my camera or your headlight at night.

In the picture below the tarp and bivy are packed up in their blue stuff sack and stowed away in the purpose built right side pack pocket of my "Great Pumpkin" XPAC pack.

Shelter in a stuff sack on my pack

The stuff sack was made out of an unused Gregory pack cover and is included if both the tarp and the bivy are purchased as a set.

I'm keeping the pack! ;-)

Chad,

Weight for the bivy is 8.45 ounces by my scale.

The tarp weighed 10.8 ounces before seam sealing without lines and prior to the beak zipper mod.

With the zippered beak modification the tarp weighs 13.05 ounces including seam sealing. If memory serves me correctly I believe that the lines and shockcord tensioners bring the total up to around 13.8 - 14 ounces.

That results in a 22.5 ounce modular shelter system. Tarp alone, bivy alone or tarp and bivy together as weather permits or requires.

I can get a more accurate weight on the tarp with the lines attached if necessary.

Thanks for your interest.

So Many Shelters So Little Time on 12/16/2011 04:45:03 MST Print View

There are only 9 more shopping days until Christmas!

I have too many shelters in my gear closet and I have to reduce my "inventory".

The reason is I have my eye on yet another shelter.

Hi, my name is John, and I am a hiking & camping gearhead! :-)

This tarp and bivy combination are very low mileage. They have been on two hikes totaling 165 miles. Besides that there was one 24 hour gear shakedown and multiple full gear training walks.

BIVY IS SOLD

The tarp is still available.

Thanks for looking.

Lester,

Here is the link to the pdf pattern that I used and followed with all of the measurements.

http://www.sixmoondesigns.com/images/stories/pdf/Pattern_Meteor.pdf

If you look at the measurements on the third page of the pdf I think you'll see that unless I'm missing something your regular Neoair should fit without a problem. It is the 20" x 72" x 2.5" dimensioned mattress, correct?

I hope this helps.

John,

If this doesn't sell as a pair - which it should - I may be interested in the bivy. This looks like a great pair, but I use a big 10 x 10 tarp.

Let me know when and if you break these items up.

David,

"The purchase of my new shelter is predicated by the sale of this tarp and bivy."

The tarp and bivy always were and still are available as separate items.

"...but I use a big 10 x 10 tarp."

A Meteor Bivy will work with a flat tarp also as seen in the picture below of another hiker's shelter setup.

My Bivy Went Bye-Bye on 12/22/2011 04:54:36 MST Print View

Apologies in advance for the following. Hey, I'm a hiker not a poet! ;-?

A tarp and bivy went up for sale,

The bivy is going up north for the spring and then some,

Dave bought my bivy,

And now my tarp is looking lonesome.

Wouldn't you like to give this tarp a new home?

Me and my tarp

Don't worry. What you see in the picture is not an inseparable set. You'd only be "adopting" the tarp. You wouldn't want this hiker anyway. He has too many maintenance issues. ;-)

Price for the tarp is $60.00 shipped CONUS. PayPal preferred.

Post if you are interested and / or PM me.

Merry Christmas
