Sounds like there has been a lot of action lately between coyotes, injuries and healing. I'll second the notion that it takes a few years to build a strong base and several of us have been compressing preparations into a few months. Everyone take care and good luck working out any kinks.

Wow only 4 weeks to go!

Really sorry to hear Adan. I can definitely feel your pain having gone through that mess before, ITBS is a bastitch, not running because of it is even worse. Keep your head up.

If you need any help or have questions about dealing with ITBS shoot me a PM. I had a nasty bout myself two years ago and found a few things that helped with the healing process.

That's an incredible feat, Roes is diehard. I can't imagine what it takes to push through and endure something of that nature/scale. Pain and suffering is relative, ill do my best not to whine or snivel in April, in the event I do I will pack a handkerchief or tissues.

On a different note, temps are supposed to near 80F this week, maybe a little heat running before April.

second and final long run on the Old Goats 50 course last Saturday (22 mi.)
close to 7,000' of gain and my legs are slightly toast.
need to run the Old Goats gauntlet in two weeks before I can think seriuosly about the RRR. but its not a goal race, just a training race, so as long as I don't DFL, I'll be satisfied just finishing.

Think I've got my food figured out :)

bringing 6 2 scoop packs of Perpetuem 11.4 oz; 1620 calories
Clif blocks x6 13.8 oz; 1200 calories
Clif gels x3 3.3 oz; 330 calories
Clif bars x3 7.2 oz; 750 calories
peanut butter & jelly sandwich 5.0 oz, 500 calories

40.7 oz (glad that weight goes away!); 4400 calories- that should sustain my svelte 190 lbs :)

in other news my leg sleeves came and they do feel good on, not 100% sure they are helping, but then again my calves are still doing good

exactly one month out gents!!!! :)

Looks good, Mike. One suggestion is to make sure your stomach is happy with the Perpetuem (if it's not new to you then disregard the following bit) - it's a pretty complex drink and some people can't process it. It may be a good idea to start with water and heed and then go to Perpetuem, but it varies. I'd also pack a few extra gels 5+ they're life savers - I often just let the gel sit in my mouth and dissolve on a long climb.

Less than a month now..!

Eugene- nice choice :)

Dan- I've been using it on my longer runs, knock on wood- no problems w/ it thus far; probably good advice to throw in a few more gels- they do give good bang for the buck, can't say that I'm overly fond of them though- could probably say the say for Perpetuem for that matter- I know the P&J is going to taste good though :)

Mike - I find perpetuem much more soothing on my stomach than gels over many hours of use. Taste is a personal issue, I've grown to really like it.

Looks like I'm going to have some trouble getting a long run in this weekend, but I've got plenty of other ridiculousness planned...Riding the Wolfpack Marathon Crash Race race on Saturday night (actually Sunday morning). I'll be rolling to the start at 2AM, mass ride to the starting line starts at 3AM, race at 4AM. Should probably be running the marathon, but this is way more fun.

I'll be making up for the lost long run next weekend by biking then running across Joshua Tree (almost 40 miles each way).

Well, Im not injured, however, I spent the last 9 days visiting my boyfriend and getting my car repaired in West Covina, so, I have done no trailrunning, and no working out at all! I have spent time walking to Krispy Cream and to Target to get more easter candy. So , im back at it today, but I feel im starting all over with only like 20-something days to go!lol...I also gained like 9lbs when there! ha. ..I can still do under 12hrs though, as there's no KrispyCreams out here! ;) -see ya guys soon! Stop gettin injured!
