Stevensen's Warmlight Question on 11/13/2011 14:05:03 MST Print View

If I recall correctly, Stevensen's Warmlight (sp?) used to sell a tent that claimed to eliminate the need for a sleeping bag. Multiple layers of foil like fabric were suspended from the interior of the tent to keep the occupants warm.

Did anyone buy/try one of these? If so, what was your experience?

I believe it was called Filmgap. Never saw one, just heard of it.

It's Stephenson's Warmlite.
Yes it was called Filmgap , also spelled Film-Gap.
There is a brief description of it in a 1973 Popular Mechanic magazine (Google "Stephenson's Filmgap Popular Mechanics")
Possibly drawings and pictures were lost in the 1982 fire that burned down the family house.

I have an even earlier picture of the Model 1, "Original Filmgap tent," dated 1958
Maybe you should ask him.

Franco,

Thanks for the info.

The Bruce Johnson site is very interesting. Talks about MSR and others too.

Google is really on top of things. When I googled as you suggested the first thing that came up was your BPL entry above.

Didn't find any "hands on" reports from anyone who has used the film gap idea.
