I don't even care if those add weight, I want to use them.

If used in place of a plastic D ring, there is a small weight savings depending on what plastic ring you compare it to. If you use 2, in place of a ladder loc, you will shave weight. The plastic components have more bulk to them, to get strength. So these are lighter, more compact, and much stronger.
