For some reason, thru-hikers seem to enjoy this article I wrote. :)

Check it out...

Hilarious, even for this non-thru-hiker!

They deleted our comments from WB bro but I still have to say that the "Correct Knife" part of your article strikes home particularly well.
I was and am a bushcraft person before i became a thru hiker type person.
Now i am totally confused and my vision of where i fit in in the world is totally destroyed.. D-Low was right about this hiking stuff..
Yet i find this article hilarious.
"The shelter you can build with the correct knife."
CLASSIC!
On my CDT thru hike I even bought a bigger knife in Montana cause the humongous hail scared me all the way back into my "bushcraft" roots.
This HMHD article is awesome cause it hits so close to home!
Someone once said: "We carry our insecurities on our backs."
So true.

If only you'd written this forty years ago, I wouldn't have wasted all these years doing it wrong!!!

holy wow, great stuff. The stove illustrations were a close runner up to the knife stuff. Your last comment about MTBers being good stewards was classic. Thanks for posting

Shh! Don't tell him that...he's already a big PITA. :D

(I see him pretty frequently. I was at his housewarming last Saturday and best man at his wedding. I'm allowed to call him a big PITA. ;) )

Say it ain't so. I thought my remarks to that dude about the High Holy Council of Hiking were appropriate..... :)

After reading this and realizing that my hunting and fishing trips are not legit, that my my pack and gear is all wrong and that enjoying myself at my own discression is not an option, I think I'll just stay indoors and leave the wild to the real hikers and experts. Thank you for moving me to my paradise of sheetrock and state of depression.

Are there any rehabilitation clinics for someone who now has this knowldge?

I offer clinics for cheap. Just use small, unmarked bills.

Talk to my agent "Tony".
