Depends who is around, geeky talk has had both that, and the opposite effect in my experience, all depends how geeky your co-campers are :)

Apparently most of them weren't very geeky. There will be some before and after photos buried in the Trinity Alps trip reports.

I am no longer permitted to talk about computers while backpacking, take my shirt off within the borders of California nor wear hiking clothes in San Francisco. Rough life.
