Phoebe's First King on 01/12/2012 14:25:21 MST Print View

September 17, 2011, my wife and 7-year-old daughter went out with a friend and his two girls in Kachemak Bay trolling for king salmon. He made this one minute video of it. He's got a number of such shorts of clamming, etc, all in a humorous style.

Editted to add: Gear was probably 30-pound test off a downrigger at 90-100' down, then 20 feet of line to a flasher, 30-inch steel leader to a hoochie / plastic squid.

September 2011 on a grouse/snowcock hunting expedition with my good friend Daryl. He brough along his Pen Rod and reel combo and some powerbait. I had left my gear at home, expecting to hunt more than fish, but used his rod a bit. I wont go into how terrible the rod/reel combo was, but here a few of the trout that we caught and cooked!

This was in Favre Lake, south of liberty pass. it was a great trip.
Those trout were seasoned with lemon pepper and cooked with olive oil and a bit of water to keep them from sticking to the pan. Also they were stuffed with deer+elk salami. Enjoy

Hello, and great catches everyone! on 04/15/2012 17:18:38 MDT Print View

Hello everyone. I'm new around here, but I'll share some pics. All these fish were caught in Colorado on an Orvis Superfine Touch 8ft 4wt.

South San Juan Winderness spring fed pond. Fooled this one with a Turks Turantula.

Rocky Mountain National Park Green Back Cutthroat Trout. Caught on a yellow asher.

Snake River Cutthroat in the Ten Mile Range. My own cutthroat streamer pattern got this guy.
SNake River Cutthroat

The rarest Trout in Colorado, and yes they do exist in our state. You just need to hike a long way into the West Elk Wilderness to find them. This little guy took a caddis.

That's about the biggest we caught last summer doing South Lake to Onion Valley but it was a blast nonetheless. Don't get that kind of fishing here in Arizona!

My brother and I took a week long fishing trip to Colorado back in 09. We fished Deckers Creek, Cheeseman Canyon, and a private section of the south branch of the South Platte river (pictured). I used a 9ft. 5wt rod and I believe the cutbow was caught on an egg pattern and the brown on a caddis pupa or a stone fly.

I got up to the Mt. Evan Wilderness area here in Colorado to fish a lake around 12k this weekend. The lake had already iced off. I fished a streamer with a dropper and caught fish on both.

Another Ice off trip on 06/11/2012 11:30:19 MDT Print View

I hiked in at night to find a high mountain lake mostly covered with ice, and unfishable. After a warm night the lake opened up. By mid day I hit the upper lake to find it opening up. During ice off the biggest fish in the lake will show themselves. I caught a few fish on a Parachute Adams & Copper John, but the fish of the day was caught by my buddy Jon. Again this lake was around 12k.

It was small, but DELICIOUS. High country fish are the best. Caught on the lower monarch lake out of mineral king in sequioa national park. This was probably the one of the biggest fish in the lake actually. This upper lake probably had bigger fish but had sketchy ice all around it.

Here are Drake (12) and Phoebe (7) with the sockeye salmon they caught in the surf in the salt water of Cook Inlet at the mouth of the Kenai River (north side). 10 fish, 80 pounds total, 90 minutes of effort. Drake got two fish and then went back to reading his book. Phoebe really liked the bounancy of being in waders in the salt water and bounced up and down the whole time.July dipnetting
