You can find lighter electrolyte packets pretty easily. Gatorade has lots of sugar so it has calories but weighs more. Two that I use are "Electro Mix" (made by the company that makes Emergen-C) and Ola Loa Sport. The packets are really light.

My trick for sneaking in a little extra acclimation is to drive to the trailhead the night before and sleep there. Seems to help. As an added bonus, leaving around dinnertime and driving into the night means less traffic usually.

You may well be particularly susceptible to altitude, but regardless, using all the tricks will help you do as well as you can.

I now bring Hammer Nutrition Endurolyte capsules and pop one per hour. I estimate 9hrs a day of hiking, and that weighs .28oz on my scale. That's about .03oz per pill. So throw in a couple for breakfast and dinner and you're still not up to .5oz/day. Even if you double or triple the dosage according to what work for you, would that add up to one Gatorade packet. Plus, you can carry all the pills in a ziplock, so no empty packets to deal with. And you don't have to worry about scent in your water bottle in bear country, if you need to carry a canister. And at 17 cents a pill(or $2.04/day for twelve pills) it's probably cheaper than Gatorade.
