One of my favorite places on earth in the winter is the Randolph Mountain Club cabins on the side of Mt. Adams, second highest mountain in the northeast. Its a 3000 foot climb from the base to the cabins. One year I was up there at unheated Crag Camp during the Superbowl--the Pats were not there(in the Superbowl) so neither was I. As I sat there alone with the howling wind, suddenly the door burst open with a loud roar. I couldn't believe it. A group of crazies had lugged up a small TV, heavy batteries, a full-sized antenna collapsed, and two cases of beer, all with snowshoes and crampons the entire way. The next day as a blizzard blew in, we all watched the game. And those guys were blessed--they shared their beer with the stranger. Those guys loved their hiking and loved them some football!
