Wasn't there a tent a while back that had blow-up sections instead of tent poles. I would like to know what they used to accomplish this. I would like to make a blow-up section on a bivy to keep the bug netting off of my face. It seems easier than having to stake it out. OF course, it depends on how much this system weighs.Just pondering,Dave
Bill Fornshell (I believe), on this site, did a thread on just what you are describing. Don't have time to search for it at the moment, though...gotta run.
Bill made his blow up bivy poles out of cheer sticks (for the inner tube) and cuben sleeves.
Awesome. Thanks. I search for Bill's creationDave
Nemo might be the tent maker your thinking of. They have air bladders inside Xpac on some models.Ryan
Yes. Look at the Nemo GoGO and Moto bivy/tents.http://www.nemoequipment.com/airsupported_technologyIf your bivvy is to be used under a tarp , then you don't need as much support.Franco

Correction, Bill used elongated party balloons for his bivy hoop. You can find everything he has made on his blog: http://ultraliteskunkworks.blogspot.com/The particular post about his Cuben Fiber - Pertex Quantum Bivy with balloon hoop is here:http://ultraliteskunkworks.blogspot.com/2005/09/cuben-connection.htmlScroll down to near the bottom to the section about "Cuben Fiber - Pertex Quantum BivyMade - 09/07/2006 "
