So, it's a common thorn in my side that I can't wake up and roll out of my door to a backyard of mountains, trails, backpacking, and wilderness awesomeness that you westerners enjoy. Don't get me wrong, I love my Wisconsin Northwoods....but....I need to move...

I've been all over this country. I like it up here best. Not perfect, no. But CA comes pretty close, for me. Especially the real Northern California.

I love California.

Oregon and Washington are miserable. Wouldn't recommend coming here.

I lived in Washington, it is miserable. My sister in law lives in Portland. Ruined there too.

why? on 09/21/2011 00:45:14 MDT Print View

What makes Oregon and Washington so miserable? I have a friend in Washington that keeps trying to convince me that I'm missing something by living in California. Is it the rain? I'd love to spend more time in Northern California. I did a trip up Shasta and thought it was beautiful up there.

North north California is AMAZING. Always loved it. This state is all messed up though... and it inevitably affects up north.

Jeff, it is tongue in cheek. We just don't want to share is all. Nothing worth seeing in Wa and Or. Nope. Nothing. Just moss, nerds and hippies!

Come visit, but don't stay! on 09/21/2011 16:54:21 MDT Print View

Too many people up here already! Our unemployment is high and our winters are a desolate gray! In a few weeks we'll all be affected with our annual epidemic of Seasonal Affective Disorder. Californians go home or you'll catch it!

I'll stay down here then. Only one recreational visit to Oregon in my almost 58 years and that was early Sept., no worries about me relocating, nice to be out of debt, so I'll hang onto my property.

You all suck.

I live near DC, smog capital of the US. I hate it here. Can't wait to retire and move. Well, I guess I can, because my plan calls for about 3 more years here. Harummmph.

Doug, you should move to California when you retire.

I have traveled quite a bit, and please all, don't take this the wrong way....there is not better place to live than in Northern CA

You have the Bay Area...anything and everything can be done there. We have the ocean, redwoods, moutain ranges of all types, we have desert, we have snow, we have wine, and we have ME!

Just remember the Bay Area is not Northern CA. Nor is Sacramento.

Excellent (Chill-Out) music on Friday Night and even better times backpacking with Dave & James at Fremont Lake. I had Thievery Corporation songs in my head all weekend and finally the greatness thing about California: Double Double Animal Style with fries and a chocolate milkshake.
