The GME MT410G is about Aus$400. For < $500 is that as good as any? I like the 7 year battery life.

I am in Australia and need approved for use here and that has a battery that can be transported on planes.

Although not strictly speaking a PLB, personally I like the SPOT Messengers. More flexible and can be used for non-emergencies. They run on standard AA/AAA batteries - although the lithium variety are recommended for their long life.
