MLD Exodus FS Full Suspension Packs Released

New pack is up on the site. Will start shipping tomorrow with stock ready to go.

It is an Exodus with all the same Exodus features but adds an very light frame system using a CF/Delrin fame + A unique inflatable back pad made by Klymit that is only .75" thick to keep the center of gravity close to the back to limit any "virtual" weight added to the shoulder straps by COG loads that are pushed farther off the by thicker inflatable or multi folded pads in pockets or when used as virtual frames for load over 18lbs.

The pads has vertical chamber than flex and move across the pad but are stiffer vertically for support. Some users may want to use only the pad leaving the CF frame at home for light loads.

Designed to be a very light pack for more comfort than the frameless Exodus for loads in the 18-30lbs range. Not a big load hauler but rather one that hits that sweet spot of 18-30 where many UL trips need to carry extra food , water, bear can or packraft with out requiring them to us e 30-40+oz pack to get there.

The Pad and CF Frame can be stripped. to save about 4oz- then you have a regular Exodus at only 2-3 oz more than regular.

Multi use option for the pad are also possible : Pillow, sit seat, PFD, hip pad with 1/8ccf pad, etc.

I should have also mentioned that using the pad alone in the 12-18lbs range is a very very comfortable and that inflatable pad may fit other packs you have ( alpine climbing, etc) too for vertical support.

We almost released the pack with the pad alone as the only vertical support- the early tests were very good but decided for only 1 oz more to add the CF frame system for that option to push the comfort level at least 10lbs higher.

Note that the CF/Delrin rod/tube system has been around for a long time. Many other pack makers that use the CF system it this way and rate it to 40lbs or more- we think 30-35 is the upper limit for most recreational ( not thru-hikers) at this light weight. YMMV since more than a few tough folks use frameless packs to 30-35lbs.

Looks awesome Ron!

What are the widths of the shoulder pads?

Any plans to offer "s" (female) shoulder straps?

Any plans to sell the pad insert by itself?
