Getting know the UI with this post. Wife and I just started backpacking 1 month ago. Went too hard on our first trip, came back early. Going lightweight now, we had 60lbs of gear with us the first time. UGH!

Hi, Christopher. I'm happy to hear that you and your wife are going not giving up. Going lightweight makes backpacking so much more enjoyable.
