Quick Question On Sawyer Filter on 08/03/2011 17:45:50 MDT Print View

Hello All,

Looking to make my first first MYOG project of any real value and worth.

I am wanting to make a gravity feed water filter like so many others have done.

Primary question I have is... which Sawyer filter to buy?

It seems like they have two that could work, so basically just wondering which of them is the better of the two for both filtration and easy of building.

Model SP122 or the Model SP121?

Obviously I would not need all the extra junk that comes with the SP122.

So, hopefully somebody out there can just let me know which of these two offers the better filtration and which is easier to work with in building a gravity filter - heck, they might be identical for all I know. I feel ignorant about this... probably because I am ;)

Hi John,

I'd get the 122 for the quick connect fittings and backwash gizmo. That last bit, you leave at home.

p.s. They're the same filter inside, just different casings.
