The reported list is NOT final. These are POs that meet the current criteria for possible closure. Too early to get worried, as affected locals get the chance to convince USPS why a given PO is too important to be closed. See the list at
Stehekin is at the far north end of Lake Chelan, has no roads to the outside world, and is home to the NPS staff for North Cascades National Park. The only way in or out is by float plane or the shuttle boat from the town of Chelan at the south end of the lake. It is unlikely that the PO will close. If it did, hikers would be forced onto the boat to Chelan, which is a full resupply-capable mid-sized town.
Other PCT-related sites on the list are Castella (by Castle Crags State Park) and Old Station.
Castella could be replaced by Dunsmuir, 6 miles north along I-5, but there's no real alternative for Old Station.
Bottom line - this fight ain't over yet. Keep an eye on the PCT_List forum or the PCT Room at Trailforums.com.
