M Kettle v. Backcountry Boiler... on 07/18/2011 13:01:15 MDT Print View

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get one of these to replace my JetBoil...tired of buying and carrying the fuel around.

Can anyone tell me the differences between these two products? Pros/cons?

Thanks!

The BCB in addition to not being a theft of intellectual property can carry more water than the mKettle.

Austin,

Here is a link to a group of BPL members that took a trip together early this year.

There are a lot of photos of UL gear, but jump to the middle.

There is a "burn-out" contest to see who can boil some water the fastest using different stoves.

There is a prototyple of the BCB with photos of it in use, the underside of it and the top....should give you a good feel for how it is used.

Please note: the performance in the photos is more of a function of the user having trouble getting a fire started vs. the BCB itself.

Nice little write up of the two in this months TGO magazine. The edge still goes to the BCB. It's the one to get if you are thinking about one or the other. Will be available very soon.

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

Ken - how did the Boiler fare in the TGO article? I've asked for a PDF of their pages on the Boiler but haven't heard back yet. I'm dying to know. :)

Edit: can't spell

Devin. I'll send it to you.

The only mark against the BCB is availability. But you're on it.
