Why not post stuff on the forum, instead of using the forum to increase footfall on your blog? Other folk on here have their own website/blog, but they don't feel the need to constantly advertise it.
It is getting as annoying as shoe spam.
Mike,

That little tag line is just my signature. On most forums I've used, a signature line is just a matter of course, automatically inserted every time one posts. I'm sorry it bothers you although I'm a little surprised since it's just three words (well and my "initials," HJ). It doesn't seem to bother others.

As for the issue of driving traffic to my website, just so you know, I only post a link here to a small fraction of the posts on my blog. For example, I've posted nine entries on my blog this month but only two or maybe three links have been posted here on BPL. I'm conscious of not over doing it. Conversely, if one were to be waiting for me to be posting a link, one would be missing a good number of my posts [how's that for blatant self promotion? lol] ;)

BTW, what the heck is "shoe spam?"

Only 2 or 3? Really? Everyone of your posts has a link to your blog! Or do you not count your blue tag as a link?

Maybe it doesn't bother anyone else, but now i've noticed it, it just shouts 'SPAM' at me every time i look at a stove thread.

That response makes no sense in the context of what you quoted.

"Maybe it doesn't bother anyone else, but now i've noticed it, it just shouts 'SPAM' at me every time i look at a stove thread."

It's basically a signature, akin to a logo on a business card. It's not spam, it's not only legit, but it's a sensible practice, one which I follow myself -- though not so much on here, because BPL's crappy forum software doesn't seem to have a signature setting. I suppose I could start adding my own signature manually.... hm.

This is, btw, the ONLY forum I've ever encountered where nearly no one includes a signature in their posts.

Well, not quite correct. We automatically include your user name, your locale and your avatar with every posting.

Mike,
Jim's a great guy and isn't doing anything wrong. If you don't like it, don't read his posts. Stop hatin' and thread hijaking, will ya'?

The Borde Bomb IS Da' Bomb, by the way !

If it included (optionally) a link to one's web site, I would agree.

I like the link. I don't go there very often, but once I a while I do go take a peek. Much more convenient than adding a bookmark to my browser. And it is pretty easy to ignore it and not click the right mouse button.

I agree. It's also far more convenient than clicking his profile and finding the link to his blog there. Having to insert a signature into every post manually is a bug.

Bob,

Can't speak for Cameron, but to me it was innocent enough and no disrespect intended. You usually finish a post with your "signature" and apparently someone feels that signatures are akin to spam.

Nick, if you read around the threads, others are surprised that there is no facility for a signature on a post, at least here at BPL.

So, yes, Cameron really ought to clarify.

This is ridiculous. Can we all just give it a rest and get back to the main topic of the Borde Bomb stove?

Nice. Post a few pics if you get a chance.

Don't bring the hardware cloth (if that's what you're using for a pot support) in too close to the flame. It should be fine generally, but if too close it could weaken in the flame. I never had a problem with mine when using a 0.9L pot, but it occurs to me that it could be an issue.
