The speaker port on an iPhone is at the bottom of the phone. If you place the phone in a cup/pot, the pot will act like a small speaker. It works with plastic party cups too. For those of you who like to listen to music, this is a great way to share.

A cheap-skate friend did this on an airplane ride once:

Instead of pay $5 to rent the headphones for the in-flight movie, he asked for a straw and a Styrofoam coffee cup from the attendant.

Of course this was back when airplane headphones were pneumatic - he stuck the straw through the bottom of the cup, then planted it in the sound port of the armrest and leaned over to listen to the movie with his new speaker!

Also works with earbuds for those with small mp3 players.

Just tested the Snow Peak 700 and 450 double wall; they both sound great, but the 450 is louder. Fantastic suggestion.

That is a true multi-use gear suggestion!

Run a string from the bottom of the cup to another 3 feet away, tension it, and you've got stereo. 4 more cups, and it's surround sound. Add a Bearvault 400 and it's 5.1...

I finally got around to taking a photograph of the iPhone inside a 700 Snow Peak.

I do this all the time with my iPod Shuffle and earbuds.

I also did this for the first time on a recent hike. I used my cool new MLD 475 ml mug with my Samsung Galaxy...it worked well I thought...



I could probably remove the cozy and position it better like in the picture above with the pot hanging to get a louder sound... :)

Incredible - best multi use idea ever I reckon....anyone tried it with a Jetboil pot?

In addition to the original music multi use tip, if you have a campfire app on your phone, you can also enjoy the sounds of a crackling campfire in areas that don't allow real ones.
