Has anyone made the G4 style pattern but put 3D mesh on the back instead of going with a pad pocket?

OR

Has anyone come up with an alternative way to pad the back without using the pad pocket (or using the rolled up pad inside the pack body)?

Or better yet, anyone have a G4 they are tired of that they want to part with for a reasonable $?
