WTB: SMD Lunar Duo carbon fiber poles on 06/25/2011 05:56:29 MDT Print View

Going on a trip with a friend next month and would like to pick up some poles so our shelter doesn't depend on me not accidentaly breaking my trekking poles in order to be set up. If you have some and would like to sell them please email me at afterburner2020 at gmail dot com

Could you use sticks found along the way to save you weight and $$$? Just measure the length before hand and then find something to fit.

Buy Direct from Tarp tent on 06/27/2011 15:42:02 MDT Print View

You can buy Aluminum ones from www.tarptent.com for only $5 each. Weight is 2 oz per pole which is only slightly heavier (0.2 oz) than the Carbon Fiber poles that SMD sells. Choose the pole that fits the Contrail Tent. It is the same height, 45", as the Lunar Duo.

+1 to sticks and alum poles on 06/27/2011 17:22:06 MDT Print View

I have used sticks, aluminum poles; and trekking poles; they all work great. If fact, the stick method is a bit sturdier in wind than the skinny tent poles.

Thanks for the tip Erik, I hadent even thought of looking on TT's website, I didn't think any of their poles were 45", all the more excuse for me to order the TT moment crossing pole I've been meaning to get as well.
