What is your favorite lightweight river knife (fixed blade)

I'm looking for a better option, needs to attach to my PFD.

Please post a picture or link.

My favorite is the Gerber River Shorty with a blunt tip. I have used one for years and if I ever lose it I'm buying another. Comes with a hard plastic sheath that attaches to a PFD.

my vote goes to the NRS Pilot on 06/20/2011 05:37:22 MDT Print View

Those Gerbers have a good blade, but after mine fell out when I got dunked into some rapids. I now use an NRS pilot with its fail safe release.

My wife and I have an NRS Pilot and NRS CoPilot split between us. I got the CoPilot a year or two back and it isn't stamped China like the new models. The new CoPilot also has a partial metal clip and is heavier than the one I have. Both have very similar features and cost the same price.

+1 for the Gerber River Shorty. Fits nice and snug on my PFD upside down and ready to pull out when needed.

Co-pilot for me. Attaches to pfd on my upper chest almost at my shoulder. I also have a small lease attached to it in case i drop it in the water (i am considering a retractable divers tether to hold it so i don't have a leash dangling around just waiting to get caught on something).

NRS pilot or co-pilot, CRKT Bearclaw, any of the spyderco salts, the gerbers aren't bad, but could had a better sheath.
