This video is either the most elaboriate spoof I have seen or the most signifcant development I have seen.

Eternal life?

Think of the consequences to our already over populated planet?

Too bad it will come too late for Juan Ponce de León.

Not a hoax on 06/17/2011 12:13:58 MDT Print View

It was on TV about 2 months ago (that must make it real! haha!). The series of NOVA specials is pretty interesting actually, lots of bleeding edge type of science, physics, etc.

The whole 'eternal life' thing aside, it sure seems promising for the future of organ transplant. Immortality might be possible by way of the jellyfish though :)

Just think of the consequences when your favorite cottage gear maker runs out of cuben and then goes walkabout. An eternity of MYOG compromises!

Eternal what? on 07/07/2011 15:48:40 MDT Print View

To paraphrase Isaac Asimov:

Death is nature's way of telling us we need to get out of the way of the next generation. They deserve their turn, ya know.

Eternal food for eternal life on 07/16/2011 06:56:46 MDT Print View

Looks like science will be able to provide an eternal food source. A Japanese scientist has been able to convert protein-rich human sewage into a steak-like substance ...

http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/06/17/japanese-scientists-create-meat-from-***p/

(. *** = poo " since the filters aren't letting the spelling happen)

Future generations can dine on their own wastes and with billions more humans estimated to be added to the world already it might be sooner. Vegetarianism would be better but to each their own.

Converting protein-rich sewage to food -- isn't that called Marmite in UK -- or Vegemite in OZ? :)
