Thai boxed meals from Walmart. on 05/29/2011 07:38:32 MDT Print View

I tried one of these yesterday. It wasn't too bad. I followed the preparation instructions on the box and used the "boil-n-pour" method. I worked OK but not gear, some of the noodles didn't rehydrate all of the way. Next time I'm going to lay the noodles flat, pour the sauce and spices on top and then add the boiling water.

"I found these at Giant Eagle too."

If you want to take these meals to the next level, add chunks of trout and simmer until almost done before adding the noodles. This method is especially good with the Thai Coconut curry.

Pad Thai? on 05/29/2011 19:45:38 MDT Print View

I assume this makes Pad Thai. I've done it on the trail and it's delicious, ESPECIALLY with retort pouch shrimp added. :)~

How much does it weigh? I can't quite read the printing on the box.

If you stir the noodles while they rehydrate a couple times you will get the best results. The only real issue is they are not very filling (due the rice noodles) so beware on the calorie issue - although they take to having items added quite easily!
