Backpacking in finland? on 05/18/2011 11:32:19 MDT Print View

Hey guys,

I'm visiting my girlfriend's parents in finland on tuesday, and I'll be there for one month. I really want to flyfish/Tenkara and do some backpacking with the girlfriend but I don't know where to start. I'm a hammock camper, so I would like to buy a tent. Are there any serious hiking/camping shops in finland? (I assume there are, I didn't find one last time I was there.)

I also emailed Hendrik from "hiking in finland" but he never got back to me. I would appreciate any help!

Thanks,
-Richard.

It depends how you describe serious ;) You must look quite hard to find any lightweight stuff.

Here's some, they all have B&M store along with the web pages but it depends a lot where you are staying.
Trekki www.trekki.fi
Partioaitta www.partioaitta.fi
Retkiaitta www.retkiaitta.fi
Varuste.net http://www.varuste.net/en/maa.asp?_id=15

You probably can get some discounts and taxfree buying might be available too if you are from outside EU.

Here's a nice site with possible hiking destinations in case you did not know it already :)

Appreciate your help.
