The Wind Blows (pun intended) on 05/17/2011 13:33:36 MDT Print View

This year has been, at least to me, a very bad year for the wind. Here's our current wind advisory (taken from wunderground.com):

"... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PDT this evening...

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PDT this evening.

* Timing: through this evening.

* Location: strongest and most widespread winds along desert
slopes of the mountains and adjacent desert areas.

* Winds: areas of southwest to west winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts
to 50 mph.

* Visibility: in the deserts... local blowing dust and sand could reduce
visibility to near zero at times.

* Impacts: the winds will make driving difficult... especially for
motorists with high profile vehicles. Watch for broken tree limbs
and downed power lines. In the deserts... areas of blowing dust
and sand could locally reduce visibility to near zero at times.

* Outlook: areas of west winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph are
expected Wednesday through early Wednesday evening with
strongest winds Wednesday afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

It sucks. Plain and simple. We've had a few weeks here and there of nice calm winds, and blue skies, but it seems that this year, more often than not, the winds have been severe. One recent windstorm blew down street lights, signs, powerlines, roofs off houses, etc... Crazy shiznit. It's the only one downside I have for living in the desert. It sounds like Armageddon outside right now- the way the building is creaking and the doors are rattling in the industrial park where I work.

Any of you suffering outdoor fun killing weather?
