Larger Cuben Packs on 05/10/2011 07:48:09 MDT Print View

So I have and love an MLD Burn which I use for the weekend and 3-4 day trips that grace my schedule nowadays. But I'm cognizant that I might have to upgrade to a bigger volume pack for a longer trip. Has anyone had Ron make them a custom cuben Exodus? Any other recommendations about a larger volume cuben backpack? Or, is it even worth cuben in this situation based on conferred benefit in durability, waterproofness, and weight savings?

A lot of folks have been singing the praises of the HMG Windrider, a cuben hybrid, for larger loads.

HMG Windrider, not customizable like MLD, but it is cuben, larger volume, fully featured, and In-stock.

The HMG Windrider Southwest pack has dyneema x vs. mesh for the rear stuff pocket.

Zpacks Blast 32 vs. MLD Exodus on 05/10/2011 11:09:11 MDT Print View

I checked with Ron and a cuben Exodus does not look like a possibility. Not an issue. For those of you who have done a 7-10 trip (or thru-hike) with either the Blast 32 or Exodus, I'd love your thoughts on they fit and handled a 20 lbs. total pack load. I wouldn't use the pack for smaller trips (that's what my Burn is for).
