After summiting Katahdin last September I guess you could say I've gone through a bit of hiking withdrawal. :P

Since I'm in the UK, travelling out to the Americas is pretty much out of the question money wise, and the "mountains" back here are a little... underwhelming. As it's pretty cheap to grab a flight across the channel into western Europe I figured I might attempt some of the alpine trails out there. Only problem is, I've got no idea where to begin. I'll be free from around the start of June till the end of August so that gives me ~3 months to hike.

I'm welcome to any and all suggestions, thanks! :)

http://www.era-ewv-ferp.org has a good breakdown of European long distance paths E1 thru E11.
France has a large network of GR footpaths.
Check Wikipedia for further details of both of the above.
