WTB-- Optimus or SVEA stove on 04/23/2011 11:56:44 MDT Print View

Hi all,

Thought someone here might be looking to get rid of an older, heavier white gas stove. I am looking for a SVEA 123r or Optimus 99 in good working condition, at a fair price. Please let me know if you have one that needs a loving home. Thank you.

Marcus

Chad, Thanks for the link, they were bought by the time I saw it.

Ruben, the price varies depending on which parts are present and condition. Brand new they can be had for about $90 shipped. I look forward to pics if you can provide them. My email is hirschbergm (a t) gmail.com.

Aluminum Sigg Pots... on 04/26/2011 16:10:01 MDT Print View

I see the brass stoves themselves going for $50 used... I inherited one along with the Sigg set (two piece windscreen, two pots, lid, grippers) and went to sell it on eBay. Then I discovered that those aluminum pots sell for upwards of $150! I decided to keep my stove. I actually really love using it though it is too heavy for anything but car camping and nowhere near as easy as a typical coleman two burner propane stove. I do like it way better than my old Whisper Lite.

I'm curious to know, for those of you who have owned these for years, is it better to store it (long term) empty or full? I'm wondering about the wick and seals.

Thanks guys-- Ruben hooked me up. I have seen them going on ebay recently, with the original cookpot, for under $50... I mean, brand spanking new they are under $100. Any of these selling for $150 must be non-self cleaning R models (older) or other rarities. These have a down-angled adjustment key, not like the one pictured above.

These stoves are really fun, I plan to use mine for canoe camping, and maybe short backpacking excursions with the kids.
