After watching the Eiger Sanctions, be sure to watch these two videos consecutively:

Ueli Steck Training + Philosphy

Ueli Steck Eiger Nordwand Ascent

Be sure to watch them regardless. Committing.

Yes - one of my all time favorites as well. Just finished reading (I believe the 3rd time in the last 30 years) the book the movie was based on "Mountain Man" by Vardis Fisher. Also a good book.

Three girls escape across 1,200 miles of Australia, from forced training schools, to get home. True story from the 1930's. I think about it when the going gets tough....

The River Why on 11/15/2011 03:17:52 MST Print View

Here's another new one.

"Set on the banks of a wild river, The River Why is the story of 20 year old Gus Orviston , the Mozart of flyfishing, who leaves his big city home in rebellion from his parents to live in a secluded cabin on the banks of a wild river and do nothing but fish."

Lots of good stuff already.

Not exactly backpacking light, but if you enjoy canoeing watch the films of Bill Mason! They can be streamed or even downloaded from the National Film Board of Canada website
