I (and most of my family) go through my rope really fast, and it is getting expensive buying by the foot. Does anyone know a good place to buy? I am mostly looking for smaller 3/32" to 1/4" size nylon/polyester.

I buy from Fleet Farm - Atwood Rope Co. brand - we buy 300 ft rolls of 1/16 in for about 6-7 bucks, some is not hollow - it has a core. (the rope without the core seems to tangle easier) It's the stiffness and ease of tying different knots that don't slip that I like. I have to assume their other ropes can perform as well.

This isn't super-strength, "only" rated at 85 lbs.

That line Gene mentioned is my favorite line. I agree with everything he said, particularly the ease of tying and holding knots. I even use it for shoe laces but it wears out after a few months of my use. It works well with the small linelocs too.

Kite line is another option. It comes in big rolls and it is often on sale.

I buy braided nylon seine line in rolls from a commercial fishing supply. The dark colors are tarred and you don't want them.

The only size reference I could find for twine sizes is a PDF at http://www.seamar.com/images/rope/twineSizeChart.pdf it has photos, but no diameter/size reference.
