All are hatched..EAGLES:LIVE WEB CAM..EGGS on 03/29/2011 14:55:35 MDT Print View

http://www.ustream.tv/channel-popup/decorah-eagles

Just north of where I grew up, in Decorah IA, is a 24/7 live webcam of an eagle couple and their 3 eggs in a nest. The eggs are due to hatch any day now!! Not action packed but fun to keep volume on the computer when there some action. Looks like there is a rabbit to the bottom left of screen for dinner. Enjoy and pass it on!!

Roger/Doug.... I know.....this is so cool waiting! What a blessing to get in on this! Hey Doug...I'm so disappointed that I didn't get to see you last month @ Henry Coe. As Ken T. knew, my son wrestled Masters that weekend and went onto State the following weekend. One more year...:) Take care my friend!

Very cool indeed on 03/31/2011 01:41:04 MDT Print View

I'm finding that this eagle watching is a bit addictive. But it's very late. And since eagles sleep at night, all is now quiet in the nest. The eagles are diurnal, and humans are, too. Time to get some sleep!

ADDICTION on 03/31/2011 10:35:10 MDT Print View

Yes, yes.......very addictive.

Sometimes I'll just sit and watch....even when they sleep.
Wow, just saw both parents (at the same time)at the nest switching out.
We're like expecting parents...over 47000 currently watching and waiting?!?

+100 for coolness!;-)

Maybe I'm just acting the part of an expectant "father" but when the eagle got up to rearrange the nest and eggs this morning I could have sworn that I could see the beginnings of the young ones pecking through their shells.

Did anyone else notice the same thing?

Large cracks at least one egg on 04/01/2011 17:29:08 MDT Print View

When the eagle on duty just got up and moved around for a few moments, I was able to see definite, fairly large cracks in at least one egg. There are probably cracks in at least one other egg, too.

False alarm! Sorry! on 04/01/2011 18:17:05 MDT Print View

I'm serious in watching and hearing the chirping underneath the eagle, but they just switched and there were still eggs! Sorry!

Is that a previously deceased rabbit to the left of the main nest?

I guess the eagles do not indulge in Freezer Bag Cooking.

One eaglet so far! on 04/02/2011 09:05:37 MDT Print View

It's so amazing to watch the new arrival. It can't really hold it's head up straight yet.

Mom carefully repositions her eggs from time to time--there are still two more eggs she hopes to help hatch--so the chick is not always visible.

I watched as the adult bird stepped off, and I could see the one fuzzy white eaglet between two unhatched eggs. It tried to lift its head to look, but it was too weak, so its head dropped back down between the eggs. Then the adult stepped back over it since it was a windy day in Iowa.

Cute.

This sure beats TV on 04/02/2011 11:29:49 MDT Print View

OK, it's off-line right now, but it will beat TV when it's back on the air!

There was one amazing sequence where Mom got up, and the baby rolled around and cheeped. This was followed by a great closeup of the little ball-of-fluff, with beak and eyes facing the camera, mouth wide open. The 2nd egg had a slowly growing hole, but then Mom carefully rearranged the eggs and sat back down. For a while you could see the tiny chick just under mom's chest, then she settled in, and all was quiet on the eagle front.
