As the subject says, anyone know where I can buy 4" wide hook and loop without having to buy a huge amount?

I'm not sure if you buy more than 1ft if it's cut off a roll, or just a bunch of 12in segments. I've ordered plenty of stuff from them in the past with good service.

Have you tried Seattle Fabrics? If I remember correctly, a customer sent a few feet of 4" to me to sew some patches to.

They have a $2.50 handling fee for orders under $20.

Yegads, what are you making with 4" velcro? We'll know you're in the forest from the humongous ripping sound...

Thanks folks. That'll do it.

I'm playing around with modifying packs. Want to try using H&L for adjustable shoulder straps, hip pads, like that.
