Pertex Equilibrium vest on 03/20/2011 17:37:02 MDT Print View

vestpertex

I was fortunate enough the get the fabric on closeout from Rockywoods last year. The pattern is the Thru-hiker minimus vest, with only a short zip at the neck, and modified to be a bit slimmer.

The fabric has greatly impressed me thus far. As the BPL fabric overview from many year ago claims, Equilibrium blends wind resistance and breathability in a very impressive manner. It also dries quickly. The precip resistance has not been good, but I imagine my fabric did not come from the mill with a DWR treatment. I may add some spray-on DWR to the shoulder ahead of trips a month or so out.

I got some Pertex from Rockywoods a few years ago and fabricated a hooded jacket. I would call its precipitation resistance fairly good, but not great. I agree, it dries quickly.
