Rab Boreas Pull-On???? on 03/20/2011 12:32:40 MDT Print View

I just read about the Rab Boreas Pull-On in Backpacker Gear Guide. 11oz and pretty Cheap for a soft shell, $75. Anyone out there in BPL-land or Naria have one? How are they?

What place in your kit would it be? Take the place of what?

I'm interested, too. Rab makes some good stuff.

More of a day-hiking piece probably. When I want to wear something more substantial than a windshell but also know I don't have to worry about taking my hard shell.

I also am interested in this. It could make my old bc.com Rime pullover completely obsolete. maybe my MH Transition hoody, too. and maybe my Patagonia Sun-hoody, too. And if I got this, I wouldn't need to worry about picking up a merino hoody sometime soon, either....

A little discussion on OM (http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/gear-news/just-in---rab-boreas-pull-on/8049.html & forums.).

Seems like will have to be slightly careful of it as a windshirt replacement and certainly not a 'tough' conditions soft shell - far from totally windproof, no DWR by default, very basic hood/no cuff adjustments etc.
(thus the very good price!)

More of a thin, wind resistant mid layer or something. Potentially useful as that of course.

Their 'deluxe windshell' is the alpine jacket, with a proper adjustable hood (and a really nice one going by the pullover I had), pockets etc and a similar overall weight. Slightly more expensive of course.
