Hey, everyone...I just noticed that Ryan had a photo and short bio of himself attached to his forum posts. I seem to remember someone suggesting this in a previous thread. Great idea to personalize things a bit!

Never know when you'll recognize a fellow BPL poster on the trail or in the elevator by their photo in their profile...we may have to start being nicer in our retorts!

uhhhh how do you do that though. I went to my account and could not find anything remotely like placing photos, etc.

Ken,

Click on my picture. Where you see My Profile - look for "View My Profile" click on it. This should open "your" profile page.

Fill in what you want and select a picture - the picture is listed as an "Avatar". Mine came off my harddrive.

Crazy Pete, I didn't realize you also had a reverse orientation view of yourself until I had already put mine up. Hear, hear to anti-gravity!

This is cool having a pic under your name.

For those of you wondering at what excotic place this photo was taken: it's called Scotland. :D

Neat. But, downside is that all short forum posts occupy more vertical on-screen real estate; more scrolling.

Ken,
No, it's on top of Half Dome looking NE. Not sure if it's Cathedral, Echo, or Unicorn peaks over my shoulder. Downside is that there isn't much detail in the photos.

Ryan, any way to get a higher resolution photo when we double click on the profile?

See...you give people an inch, and they want a mile.

Could be Cathedral or Unicorn. Both lovely peaks. Did Half Dome and Clouds Rest from Tuolumne to the valley a few years ago. Clouds Rest blew away Half Dome IMHO. Both are awesome though.

Hey Bill,

Looking good in your tunic-quilt! Like a latter day Robin Hood. All you need is a feather in your hat!

These avatars are great. Makes all the posts seem more alive.

How are you doing?

Thanks for asking. As you may know if you've seen my blog, it's been a "challenging" summer. Things still haven't settled. But, that being said, backpacking-wise it's been one of the best summers I've had in years. So I can't complain. Isn't it a wonder what being outdoors can do for you?

Just curious about your now, going-on-three blogs... why don't you just make one blog with all your stuff in it and divide up your topics by categories? (cuben stuff, hammocks, clothing, SUL gear lists, etc.) Wouldn't that make it easier for you to keep up with? It would certainly make it a little easier for readers to know where to look for your information. The categories will themselves appear in google searches, so there is no need to worry about people finding the information.

Miguel,

I was learning how to do the BLOG thing and thought I needed a different BLOG for each topic. I don't post to the others anymore and just use one now. I don't post much to that one anymore. Almost only here.

I know almost nothing about the BLOG format so I am sort of stuck with their standard shell.

Bill,

Yeah, the whole blogging thing can really be a headache and quite confusing, especially in the beginning. And it certainly eats up a lot of time better spent on other things. Let me know if you'd like any help with setting things up if you decide to use your blog much again. I'd be glad to help out.
