I picked up a Gram Weenie Pro and had no luck getting a boil, flames shoot up the sides and the stove burns out in 8 minutes. I get very close to a boil with tiny bubbles on the bottom though. This is with cool tap water and the temp today was 85 deg. Has anyone had better luck using a different alcohol stove for the Trek 700?
Caldera Cone.
I think your right, it might be time to try this out. Does the windscreen fold up pretty small?
I use a cat can stove & REI Ti .9 (same as Evernew .9 short) -- the same as Skurka's setup from his video. I've never used a gram weenie but the flame pattern looks similar and is probably too wide for the 700.I would look for a stove with a central flame pattern, with holes on the top instead of the sides. Maybe something from Minibull designs.
The Zelph Starlyte has an open flame that works well with narrow pots. It worked better than my Vargo Decagon (side burner) with the SP Solo and BC 700 pots. The Starlyte is sold here @ BPL, but I think Zelph also sells direct on another forum (about the same price); you could also try Gear Swap.
Zelph's Cobalt Blue Soloist is designed for small pots/mugs with bottoms around 3"I have one that I use with my Evernew 500 and MLD 850http://www.woodgaz-stove.com/cobalt-blue-soloist.php

+1 on the Caldera Cone. The ULC fits perfectly inside of my SP 700.
